The MiG-31 E was built as the successor to the high-flying MiG-25. Like the MiG-25, the MiG-31 can take you to the Edge of Space, but the airframe was redesigned for better supersonic flying at low altitudes. The MiG-31 Foxhound is an extremely advanced aircraft and during a combat mission a single MiG-31 E can track up to 10 targets.
The main differences in terms of a civilian flight experience between the MiG-25 and the MiG-31 are the maximum flight altitude and cockpit visibility. The MiG-25 can fly higher and features an all-glass cockpit. In the MiG-25, adventurers sat in the front seat and had an unobstructed view. In the MiG-31, adventurers sat in the rear seat and can look out side windows only.
The MiG-31 Foxhound is not currently available for civilian adventure flights. Sokol’s MiG-31 was needed for research and testing projects.
That’s OK with Incredible Adventures. In terms of an overall flight experience, the MiG-29 is a better jet to take adventurers to the edge of space. The MiG-31 is a great fighter jet, but the MiG-29 can fly just as high and provides a better view from the cockpit.
